What’s Australian Politics TV all about?

It’s all about delivering Australians daily videos about politics our way whether they’re uploaded to YouTube, MySpace, Google Video, Vimeo, Daily Booth, Viddler or a raft of other video-hosting services. (If we’ve missed something from another video-hosting site let us know so we can include it)

Why create Australian Politics TV?

For a long time we have been using the Internet for online political activism, including organising and coordinating political activity. The small team supporting the site have also been involved in organising and coordinating real life political campaigns; and well before it became trendy.

Since the 2006 state elections, Alex Schlotzer, the site’s founder, surfed YouTube daily in search of Australian political videos only having to battle through US and European content.

By the 2007 federal election, there was an avalanche of Australian political videos, whether from the grassroots, the wonks, hacks, apparachiks and the political parties. But these videos were now being hosted across more and more video-hosting services, although YouTube remains the prefered choice for Australians.

Even now with the specific YouTube Australia site, it still takes time to trawl through the pages of content that may or may not have any relevance to Australia. So it was decided; find and collate Australian political videos so that Aussies need only visit one site to find them.

And australianpoliticstv.org  is the result.
